Illume

Illume, formerly known as the Big Apple Gala, is an annual “night under the stars” event held by First Light Shelter. They approached Telegraph needing a a visual revamp. The gala’s visuals needed to reflect it’s sophistication + specialness, while also supporting First Light’s new brand identity, which was to be revealed to the public at this gala.

In response, I developed a look & feel that underscored these traits, while also remaining approachable and human.

Using some of First Light’s new color palette, I wanted the visuals to reflect a beautiful night sky with added star/sparkle brand elements to keep it light and fun. Our typography was also intentionally chosen to lean further into the humanity of the brand. 

The invitation you see in the mockups below was fully hand illustrated, and each “object” was chosen deliberately to highlight the amenities of the evening, such as: a dueling pianist act, exclusive cocktails and charcuterie tastings, and authentic blackjack tables.
